Nothing quite strengthens a child’s bond or supports development like face to face interaction with a parent. Babies thrive and long for such attention on a regular basis. Fulfilling this need requires nothing special or out of the ordinary, just some of your undivided attention!
Think in color and textures, especially with very little ones. Babies love variety. Pull out some of your dish clothes or scarves and lay them over the arm of the couch or wave them gently through the air. Enjoy watching your little one as they stare in wonder and delight at all of the different patterns and colors!
Babies love to move. What better way than putting on some music (like your favorite KM playlist!) and take a turn or two about the room with your little one? Bouncing, spinning, swaying–your baby not only enjoys all these multi-sensory motions but he will benefit from them as well. For instance, labeling movements, such as march, sway, step, bounce, etc as you move promotes language development.
Listening to a variety of musical genres and playing along or moving to serves as a wonderful means of interaction with your little one. Keep track of all of your favorite songs from Kindermusik class each week so you can build your home playlist! Play along with the music using your Kindermusik instrument, or look around the house for some other instrument possibilities such as pots, large spoons, empty boxes, etc. Be creative and have fun!
Be sure to take full advantage of your KM@Home materials! Easily accessible, you can quickly pull up a number of home activities, read a story, download your favorite Kindermusik songs, go on a virtual field trip, and so much more.
Remember that no matter the activity, the most important thing about interacting with your little one is to be relaxed and simply learn to enjoy everything about your baby, treasuring all the special together moments of exploring and discovering new things about this big, new world.
