Welcome to Piano Central Studios! We are delighted that you are joining the PCS family and starting – or continuing! – your musical journey with us. Your happiness and success in your music lessons is so important to us, and we wanted to share with you some of our best tips that will help you get off to the best possible start here at PCS.
Practice 5 days a week
There are so many scientific studies that show how learning that is spread out over several days is significantly better than learning that is crammed in all at one time. Any student’s music progress will be significantly better if their practice time is spread out over several days. To learn more about this topic, click here.
Use your PCS Assignment Notebook!!
The assignment notebook is a VITAL part of a successful daily practice and their musical progress long-term. The assignment notebook is where the teacher will write practice assignments for the week, helpful tips and reminders, and other notes as well. Students then will use their assignment notebook during the week to log their practice time and other work completed during the week so the teacher can make record quickly in the lesson. Make sure after practice is complete for the day that the assignment notebook gets put back into the PCS Music Bag.
Keep music books in your PCS Music Bag
PCS gives each of our students a convenient music bag that holds all their music books, their assignment notebook, flashcards, or other instrument accessories. Using this bag at home will help keep your practice space clean and organized and will be helpful for lesson day.
Listen to good quality music for your instrument
One great motivator to practice and stay motivated is to listen to good quality music for their instrument. That could include pulling up a playlist on your phone or going to a concert downtown with the Greenville Symphony Orchestra.
PCS offers so much more than music lessons. We offer a variety of opportunities for students to perform and be involved musically in the Greenville community. From recitals to performances at an assisted living center to judging events, every PCS student has a chance to shine and to share their blossoming musical abilities.
Never hesitate to ask questions! We want you to have the best experience possible while we nourish the heart and mind of every student and develop the skills and love for music to enjoy music making for the rest of their lives.
